The iron painting is reduced to a single round motif on the front. A kiln scar above it has already been repaired with kintsugi.

From a foot that is gently open and lightly faceted, the form rises and slowly spreads outward. A stepped transition from throwing marks appears around the midsection, and the rim finishes with a subtle outward flare. The overall profile is built as a compound of several slight inclinations rather than one continuous curve.

The tatatsuki is firmly proportioned, and fine chirimen-like texture can be seen inside the foot. The ash glaze sets a base tone of neutral gray, at times reading faintly green; in places it shifts to a soft bluish cast. Areas of exposed clay extend from the foot and along its side, and the body is finely grained and well fired. The interior glaze appears slightly thicker, and a few small hima (unshaded areas where the clay is exposed) are visible.
