shintaro-uchimura-kous11
Tamago-te Chawan

Tamago-te is a name given to a certain type of Kōrai chawan—an established term used in general for bowls whose glaze skin and overall presence recall the smoothness of an egg.

From the foot, the curve rises smoothly, carrying a few faint steps from throwing marks before turning to a slight outward flare at the rim. The kodai is formed in a takefushi (bamboo-node) manner. The tatatsuki is asymmetrical, with thicker and thinner passages, and the inside of the foot shows a rough, chirimen-like tokin texture.

The clay body is fine-grained and smooth, with a slightly viscous feel. Small hima appear in parts of the foot and the trimmed area beside it, where the clay is left exposed. The glaze is gently toned, with runs, areas dusted with ash, and a few spots where the glaze has lifted away—likely during firing. Fine crackle runs throughout. The rim is slightly oval, and in the well you can see clear, spiral throwing lines. Although the bowl is relatively thinly made, the rim is not overly thin and keeps a measured thickness; despite its size, it feels comparatively light in the hand.

W 138 mm　D 130 mm　H 90 mm

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0570/6969/9120/files/RGN03375_722f117b-b1e5-4d0b-b381-b3c0606984f7.jpg?v=1776648280
