Hideki Yanashita

Born in Tokyo in 1967. After graduating from Kuwasawa Design School, Yanashita trained in Shigaraki before establishing an anagama kiln in Iga, Mie Prefecture, in 2002. In 2007, he began studying under Sugimoto Sadamitsu.

Drawing on the ceramics of the Momoyama period, he produces a wide range of tea wares, including Iga, Shigaraki, Shino, Oribe, Raku, and Ido tea bowls. Through his continued study of clay and glazes, he places the spirit of wabi at the center of his work.
