He works in ceramics in Sannose, Nagato City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and is the sixteenth-generation potter of a kiln with over 400 years of history. Grounded in Daidō clay, he places the material itself at the center of his practice—blending it with clay dug near the kiln site and treating the clay as a primary condition of making.
