Furidashi by Shintaro Uchimura.
Akikusa-de does not necessarily refer literally to autumn grasses and flowers. Rather, it is a Japanese term given to a type of understated, delicately painted decoration found on Korean ceramics.
A single, fleeting motif of grasses and flowers, drawn in exceptionally fine cobalt lines, sits on the front. The line is sharp, introducing a sense of tension against the gentle softness of the white porcelain.
The form is defined by a full, swelling curve, which changes angle rather abruptly slightly above the midpoint and rises toward the rim.
The rim has no pronounced return or lip; instead, it carries only the slightest swelling and leads quietly into the interior. The base bears a thread-cut finish, and areas of crazing appear partially across the body.
