A tea bowl by Tori Yoshino, who works from his kiln in Hagi.
Broadly speaking, the form may be seen as a tsutsu chawan, or cylindrical tea bowl. The foot is particularly distinctive: viewed from below, the base has been trimmed with a spatula in four directions, with four pentagonal feet carved out from the clay. The contact surfaces of the feet show marks from string-cutting. From the waist, the form rises in a clean, gentle curve, ending in a slightly everted rim.
Around the middle of the body, an incised band runs horizontally, perhaps recalling the raised bands found on metal vessels.
Fine crazing can be seen across the surface, and in some areas the glaze has lifted during firing. There are also runs of glaze, most notably around the inner side of the rim, where they form a continuous landscape.
Size: Ø 9.6 cm H 9.3 cm

It may also bring a certain atmosphere when used for koicha, though it is somewhat small for that purpose.
