An Idote (Ido-style) Chawan (Tea Bowl) with a grand and dignified presence, crafted by Tori Yoshino of Hagi.

Rising linearly from a high foot with minimal outward swelling, the walls form a sharp, clean silhouette that culminates in a natural and honest rim.

The foot features a take-no-fushi (bamboo-joint) shape with a prominent tokin (conical spur) at its center. Inside and around the foot ring, the coarse, rustic texture of the exposed clay blends seamlessly with the dramatic kaoragi (crazed, beaded glaze crawling). The interplay of glaze and kannyu (crackle patterns) creates a rhythmic visual character (keshiki), leading inward to a deep well (mikomi) with a defined bottom center (kagami).

The clay body retains slight natural impurities, displaying ishi-haze (stone bursts) on both the interior and exterior surfaces. The firing has achieved a soft, warm finish, while the thinner glaze layers—particularly around the rim—reveal vibrant, warm-toned flashes.
