益子の陶芸家である竹下鹿丸の白磁茶碗。
筒型の茶碗であり、二重になったような高台の削られた周りはごく緩やかに開き、腰から垂直に立ち上がる。胴部にはろくろ目があり、中央には凸線がめぐらされる。口縁は内側が斜めに面取りされ、器体の壁面腰部から口縁にかけて5,6ｍｍ程度の同等の厚みを持っている。
口縁は楕円ないし卵型で、山道のような高低は無い。
釉薬は白系統で、やや青みがかった薄い灰色が基調となる。細かな貫入のはいったところ、縮れたような個所、またよく青く発色する部分、口縁部を中心にピンク、紫の色合いが出ている部分、たっぷりと灰を被った部分など、変化に富んでいる。そのためどこを正面とするかは議論がありそうだが、個人的には口縁部を卵型とみなした場合、その底部にあたる部分を一枚目の写真すなわち正面とした。
見込みは底部に広く浅い茶たまりがあり、灰を被った景色、甕覗に氷のような貫入があるなど、観察に応じて発見するものが多い。
土は白磁で、きめ細かいが鉄紛や蟹の目のような、長石の粒が内外にみられる。
高台は外側がよく傾斜した削りのようで、先述のように二重高台風ではあるものの、畳付きつまり接地するのは内側の非常に細い一円であり、実質として一重高台か。作者の創意によるものか、往古に似たものがあるものか、諸賢の教えを請いたい。

向き
主には薄茶の茶碗として、季節を問わずお使いいただけるかと思います。釉の景色が氷のような趣もあり、暑いときに涼しさを醸し出すものとして、初雪の頃、灰被りの部分をみれば侘びた時期にも良さそうで、雪解けの早春にも風情がありそうです。
茶碗の形も堂々として風格があり、景色もおもしろく変化に富んでいて、それでいて静けさがあるので、濃茶の茶碗としても、良いかもしれません。
