信楽の陶芸家・谷穹による蓋置。
谷穹さんは近年おやつシリーズを展開しているが、これはそのひとつとして、珍しく「バウム」とはっきり名指している。（おやつシリーズは明らかに外見がカヌレであっても、明示的にカヌレとは呼称されず、単に「おやつ」と呼ばれる。）
クリームベージュの素地に白化粧がほどこされ、バウムクーヘンらしい轆轤目が何重かに巡る。上にする方（蓋を置く面）の年輪は、裏に比べて細かい。おやつらしい、線の柔らかさを持ち、しかし甘ったるくしない味付けが、茶席にも、おふざけではない品格を添えてくれる。鑑賞に堪える作品としての深みが備わっている。
単にオブジェとして飾っておくだけでも楽しい掌品。
