Collection: Yoshihisa Ishii

The work is simple and reserved, but when you hold it in your hand, you can feel the solidity of the clay, even though it is not heavy.

Ishii's works are, first and foremost, healthy. It's not that they're natural, but rather that they seem to be carefully cared for, like someone holding a gift from a friend in their hands, feeling its warmth.

There are "simple, unpretentious, generous" vessels made by potters in the past. However, it is rare to come across a work as warm and artistic as Ishii's. In fact, this flavor is subtle. It is not an ostentatious warmth. This is because Ishii Yoshihisa is not a "simple" artist; he is simply unadorned, either in his character or in his nature. Nor has he stripped away decoration. He is not aiming for that kind of "minimalism." It is simply a rare, genuine lack of decoration.
