Collection: Miwako Murakami

A traditional overglaze craftsman from Imari and Arita.

The paintings, created with free, unrestrained, and lively brushstrokes, range from traditional motifs to Murakami's own original designs.

Generally, painters do not reveal their names (no one cares who painted the piece), but with the help of Yasumoto Kajiwara, I feel that the true skill of his brush has finally been revealed.

It is said that in calligraphy, the quality of a piece is largely determined by the paper, and the same seems to be true for pottery. Kajiwara Yasumoto's clay, potter's wheel, glaze, and that anagama kiln... Murakami Miwako's paintings using these "canvases" are nothing short of magnificent.

Although the work is of superb technique, there is no hint of showing off, and it is clear that the artist is painting with ease and enjoyment.

Its freshness is like a prayer directed towards somewhere, and is simply beautiful.
